Review of Little Pim Spanish dvd for kids

Little pim

I always like to get dvds for my little boy to review that will help him learn something so I was super excited to recieve Little Pim. It is a program that teaches little children how to speak different languages. Since we have a lot of Spanish speaking people in our area, and since I took Spanish in high school, I thought it would be neat to get him the Spanish dvd.

He has been watching the dvd for a couple of weeks now and he really likes it. I walked in and heard him repeating some of the words the other day for the first time. It was so cute! He loves the dvd and asks to watch it. He even dragged our dog into the room with him the other day to make him watch it too. The funny thing was, my little boy left his room with the dvd playing and the dog on the bed. When my husband opened the door, my dog was watching a part of the dvd that had a dog on it! He called me and my little guy to go see our dog watching the Spanish dvd with a dog on it and we all had a good laugh.

My little boy is three years old so he speaks pretty well in English. I think it would be really neat for him to pick up a little Spanish as well, although I’m not quite sure if he understands that the video is teaching him a different language. I do sometimes repeat the words, as is suggested in the companion guide. I really like that my little boy is repeating the words and I’m sure after a little more time using the dvd, he will be able to pick up those new words.

The Little Pim series was created by Julia Pimsleur Levine, daughter of Dr. Paul Pimsleur, acclaimed language teaching pioneer. The method the dvd uses is immersion. In other words, everything on the dvd is in Spanish.

If you are interested in getting your child immersed in a new language, try Little Pim. You can find it on the Little Pim site or on  Amazon.com. I would love to know if you have tried any of these before! Leave me a comment.
