I am not ashamed to admit that I love video games. I can remember my first experience with a video game. It was Mario Brothers and I was about 6 or 7 years old. My mom was at one of her friend’s houses and my sister and I were watching her friend’s older cute (by a seven year olds standards) son playing Mario Brothers. It was in the late 80s so I’m sure you remember the consoles yourself. Square controllers, colorful graphics- pure fun. He let me play and I was hooked. Mario brothers is still one of my favorite games.
We didn’t really get our own gaming system until I was in fifth grade. We got a game boy and such classic games as Tetris and Transylvania (I think that is what is was called). Of course, I was the gamer in my house so I would play as long as I could. I loved to read too but reading was only done after I was bored with video games. We got a Sega when I was in middle school. Then, we got a Playstation later on in middle school. My dad was awesome and would play games with my sister and I. We always wanted my mom to play but she was never much of the type to play things with us so we loved that our dad would play race car games and fighting games. Yes, I was somewhat of a tomboy.
Anyway, I recently had the chance to review one of the games on Big Fish Games. I wasn’t sure what game I wanted to try as there were many that looked like fun. Did I mention I love video games? I decided to try one of their word games called Word Womp Underground. It looked like fun because it was a word game. It is one of those games that you can play for a long time without getting bored. You are given some letters and you have to try to make as many words as you can out of them. Do you remember doing things like this in elementary school? I sometimes allow my students to do things like that and they love it! My students might be better than me at this, however ;). I didn’t give up and found myself playing the game several times.
Big Fish Games has lots of other word games available too. There are games like:
