Review of Half-Assed Health Ebook

Are you one of those people who don’t really do a whole lot of exercising? Unfortunately, that is how I am. I am exhausted at the end of a workday. Teaching 38 busy fourth graders can really drain my energy. I know that I always feel more energized after I exercise, although it seems like I should be MORE tired after exercising. But taking that first step of exercising is a big one for me. This is why I was interested in reviewing half-assed health. Forgive the language. It’s theirs, not mine ;).

I want to be able to get the maximum benefits with minimum effort. I mean, why would I want to spend a whole lot of time on exercises that aren’t really going to help me? That’s crazy. It’s also crazy to expect that I will be able to lose a whole lot of weight and get healthy doing the same thing that I am doing…which is very  little. It’s definitely time for a change.

I read through this e-book and there are some pros and cons to reading it. Pro- It tells you how to get into good shape doing just the right amount of exercise. Pro- It tells you that it’s not necessary to do the super killer workouts that make you sore for days afterward. You really do learn a lot from this e-book.  There are also some bonuses that go with the book- exercise videos.

Con- I was not  a big fan of the writing  style. But, while I was not a big fan of it, others might like it. The content is good, though. Also, there are more curse words besides just the title of the book.

You can get a copy of this e-book here. Check it out and let me know what you think.

dial bodywash

Disclosure: I received a bottle of Dial Miracle Oil in order to facilitate this review.

Dial has a new body wash that smells amazing called Miracle Oil. I got to try one that is Marula Oil infused and it smells Ah-maze-ing. I actually only used it once because my husband was out of soap and not me so he gets the bottle in his bathroom. I have some Amish soap that my mom gave me to use. Really, my husband should be writing this review and not me, but you know how that goes. He’s busy putting in a door lock that has a keypad that we can use to put in a code to lock and unlock the door. So he’s not just being totally lazy ;).

Dial’s Miracle oil body wash has Micro Oil technology that lathers up quickly but washes away thoroughly. You ever use cheap soap that leaves a film on your skin? I did. We went to visit my mother in law in Louisiana yesterday and stayed in a cheap hotel because my husband refuses to spend money on a hotel that we will only be sleeping in for a few hours. The soap was dreadful. I took two showers- once the night we got in the hotel and another in the morning. The film on my skin just would not wash off. I hated it!

Dial’s body wash is, fortunately, nothing like that. It is a moisturizing soap that makes your skin feel clean and refreshed. And it smells so good! Want to win some? I have a coupon for a free bottle for a Mystery Shopping Teacher reader! Use the giveaway tool below to get your entry in.

Disclosure: I received the Hop To The Music pack as a member of the Entertainment New Media Network. No further compensation was received and all opinions are my own. This post may also contain affiliate links

You know that I’m a huge fan of Frozen, right? Specifically I love “Let it go”. I don’t do the whole pretend I’m a princess part when I sing it, but I do belt it out pretty regularly. My little boy loves that song too. We sing it together sometimes to the annoyance of my husband.

One day in my classroom after my students had gone home for the day, I just felt like singing “Let it go”. I guess I was a little louder than I realized because the teacher next door heard me singing and came over. I was pretty embarrassed because I didn’t realize that I was singing so loudly but that song just makes me feel like belting out those high notes.

frozenThanks to the ENMN Network and Disney, I have had the chance to review four awesome Disney cds. One of them are the Frozen songs. It has the Idina Menzel “Let it go” as well as the one by Demi Lovato. I took it to school the other day and my kids and I rocked out to the whole thing. I love that the music is kid friendly without me having to worry about them hearing anything inappropriate. It actually the day before Spring Break started so not all of the kids were there. Anyway, they loved it! I took the words out of the cd case and sang Frozen with them and showed them the poster on the back. It has the adorable “In Summer,” “Love is an Open Door,” and all your other Frozen favorites. This was my favorite CD out of all of them.

djshuffle

The other night I put on DJ Shuffle 2 with my little boy. We actually listened to it twice because the songs are so fun and catchy. It has songs from your kids’ favorite Disney Junior shows like Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Doc McStuffins, and Sheriff Callie, just to name a few. When my little boy went to sleep, I put the cd on repeat so he could listen to it as he drifted off. He likes to listen to cds every night. Usually it is a storybook cd that he listens to, but I thought I’d switch things up. He doesn’t know that I have the Frozen cd yet. Maybe I’ll surprise him with it tonight.

Those are just two of the cds I got to sample. Those are great for the kiddos, but there are a couple of them that are good for the grown ups: Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Volume 1 is one, and the Into the Woods Soundtrack was the other.

guardians into the woods

The Guardians of the Galaxy cd has some old school songs like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell and “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede. The cover of the cd looks like a tape player and the songs go along with that old mix tape style. If you saw the movie, you know that a cassette tape plays a big part of the movie.

The Into the Woods cd has songs based on the musical. The first disc has 34 songs. The second disc has 16 songs. If you like musicals, you will enjoy this cd. It starts out with a prologue to set everything up, and then it has all of the songs. It has all the words so you can read them while you listen to the songs. All of these cds are available from the Disney Emporium. You can find them here.

How would you like to win a set of the same cds that I reviewed??? Fortunately, Disney has provided some for me to give away to one of my readers. Thank you Disney, for this Hop to the Music giveaway from Disney Music Group! Use the giveaway tools box below for your chance to win. Please note: If it comes to this blogger’s attention that the winner of this giveaway has won on an additional blog for this same prize, this blog reserves the right to choose another winner.

I am a curly girl. I started my natural hair journey a few years ago now. My sister was my inspiration. My sister has beautiful naturally curly hair. She is fearless when it comes to her hair. She will chop it off in a heartbeat with no regrets. Of course, it helps that her hair grows like a chia pet. Seriously. Did you know those things are edible? Chia seeds, I mean. Yeah, they are like some big thing right now. They’re supposed to be really healthy for you. Who knew?

I digress. My curly hair journey has had its ups and downs. It was a challenge to do the whole big chop thing. What I did was stopped perming my hair and put braids in to help it grow out. Then, I went for the big chop. I went to get my hair straightened, dyed, and cut into a bob. Of course, I evidently had lost my mind thinking that dying my hair would be a good thing, because it caused my hair to break off. Totally my fault. I was am too lazy to take care of my hair the way it requires when it is dyed. I kept my hair straight for a little while, but then decided to just see what my hair would do if I went curly like my sister. My hair’s texture is not as curly as hers, but I liked the way it looked with the natural curl.

I have been trying different products ever since I’ve started my natural hair journey. I was super excited to try the new line of curly hair products from LeKair.  I got to try everything pictured above: shampoo and conditioner, curl rejuvenating spray, and curl defining cream. The shampoo and conditioner has avocado oil to soften and hydrate your hair. It smells so good! The shampoo also detangles. Every curly girl knows that detangling is a must. And it’s more comfortable to detangle with good shampoo and conditioner on your hair. Here’s what my curls look like using the shampoo, conditioner, and curl defining cream.

And just for reference, here is what my hair looks like by itself:

without

Yeah, it’s a pretty drastic difference. I used the shampoo first, obviously. It lathers up really well and leaves my hair feeling super clean. Then, I use the conditioner generously. When I have the conditioner in my hair, I also comb my hair. I hate having to comb my hair but it has to be done at some point. I section my hair into five or six sections and start combing my hair from the tips to the roots. Yes, from the tips to the roots. Why? Years ago I saw on BET that you should comb your hair that way and I’ve done it since then. When I finish combing one section, I give it a loose braid and move on to the next section. Once I’ve finished all sections, I unbraid them all and rinse out the conditioner. I follow up with the curl defining cream. That is what got the results you saw in the first picture of me.

I have a little boy who has curls, too. I sometimes use the curl spray on his curls before I brush his hair. It helps give his curls extra shine and definition. I only use it when his hair is kind of long. If he’s gone a few weeks without a hair cut, he can rock his curls with LeKair hair spray. I actually had a picture of him with LeKair spray on his curls on my old phone. That phone actually just deleted the hundreds of pictures I had on there…pictures all the way from the time my little boy was a baby. It hurt that I couldn’t get those pictures back but I learned how to backup my pictures automatically so that will never happen again.

I have tried a lot of hair products. Some have been good for my hair, and some, not so much. I like LeKair’s line of products for curly hair. They help my hair. I think that when you have natural hair, you have to find what’s right for you. Some products that have worked for you might do nothing to tame my curls but I am curious to know: what natural hair products do you swear by? How did you start your natural hair journey? Let me know in the comments.
