Have you ever had an emergency come up unexpectedly where you needed a little money to hold you over until payday? I’m sure all (or most) of us have been in that situation at one time or another. It’s best if you have some money you can pull from your savings. However, that is not always the case. Following are a few things you can do to get money if you are in a pinch.
One thing you can do if you really need money in a pinch is get some money for the things you own. Have a yard sale! You might be surprised at how much money you can make at yard sales. People are always trying to save money and if you have items in good repair, you might be able to get some money for them. With the economy the way it is, people are really trying to find ways to make their money stretch, and yard sales are ways that people can pick up items for a good price.
If you are in desperate need of a little money, you can always get a loan from a site like Loanswire. If something comes up right away and you don’t have family or friends you can borrow money from, this is an option. Loanswire.com is one of many sites that offer loans for people who need them. Of course, it’s best if you can make the money you need on your own, but that is not always an option. However, this should be something that is done either when there are not better options available or if it is a loan that you need that you will be able to repay once you get your paycheck. What you don’t want to do is get caught in a cycle of borrowing money all the time.
Another thing you can do if you are in a pinch and need money right away is to try mystery shopping. You are on the site of the mystery shopping teacher, after all ;). Click here to look at several articles that I’ve written about mystery shopping if you want to get started. Some mystery shopping jobs pay within a week while others take up to a month. If you can find mystery shopping jobs that pay quickly, it can come in handy. Keep these shops in mind from month to month so you can do them if you really need the money.
Do you have a skill like writing or building websites? You can sell your services on sites like Craigslist. You can take out an ad and will often get people who are looking for your services.
You can write freelance for sites like Elance and get paid in a few days in many cases. However, you are not always guaranteed fast payment. If you are going at it alone and can ask for partial money up front, that may help you out a little. You can collect the remainder of the money at the end of the job. If you are using a site like Elance, you might not be successful with getting cash upfront. However, you might be able to get paid fast if the buyer is happy with your work.
Do you have any advice to share with those who run into a problem of needing money quickly? What have you done in the past? Feel free to share with a comment.
