Here’s my take on an Orange Julius. It’s simple and doesn’t cost a lot of money to make. That’s my kind of recipe! The inspiration came from The Country Cook’s recipe. I just tweaked it a little bit. Check her out. She’s da bomb. I call this my “Orange you Jealous” (Get it? Orange you sounds kinda like aren’t you? get it? get it?) breakfast drink.
I couldn’t get a great picture of the product afterward because we drank most of it before I remembered that I needed a picture. So I will try to update the picture the next time I make this.
Here’s what you need:
Ingredients:
1 can of frozen orange juice
1 cup of milk
1 cup of water
1/4 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
2 cups of ice
Prep:
Start by making a simple syrup. Bring the one cup of water to a boil and add sugar. Dissolve the sugar completely and set the simple syrup aside for about 30 minutes to cool slightly.
Directions:
1. Add your can of frozen orange juice and the simple syrup to your blender. The orange juice needs to be just thawed enough to slide out of the can. Since your simple syrup is likely still warm, it will melt the the o.j. Blend it until the orange juice and simple syrup come together.
2. Then, add your teaspoon of vanilla flavoring and milk. Blend together a little more.
3. Finally, add the ice. For a drink that is a little thicker, add more ice. Be careful not to add too much, though, or else the flavor will be diminished.
4. Pour into glasses and enjoy. This makes 3-4 servings, depending on how much you want to share
.
