Every parent wants their child to be healthy. With the food that we have access to nowadays, it’s tough to make sure your child is getting everything they need. We live a fast-paced, harried existence and that means our kids, just like most of us, miss out on their vitamins. Well, since all kids have to eat something, why not make sure they get their vitamins?

MegaFood Kids Nutrient Booster Powders are one way to make sure your kid gets your vitamins. It’s one more thing you can do as a parent to help your child besides giving them fruit and veggies, which most children don’t get enough of. So when I was given the chance to review the MegaFood Daily B-Centered, Kids Daily Multi, and Kids Daily Immune Nutrient Booster Powders I jumped at the chance. To be honest, this might not have been something I would have really been excited about a few months ago. However, over the summer I read a book that changed the way I think about nutrition this summer. Now, I am looking for more and more ways to give my family the best nutrition possible.

While we haven’t tried ALL of the powders yet, we have had some. And I saw ‘we’ because I tried them too. Each of the jars comes with a little scoop inside that you use to measure out a serving with.



Both my son and I have taken the Kids Daily Immune because I wanted him to take it when he was exposed to pink eye. I wanted to make sure that his body had the best chance possible of not getting the virus or, if he did get it, that it wouldn’t be too severe.

I took some of it myself a couple of days ago. I had a bad day eating, and so I took a serving (well two scoops) of one of his powders in order to get some nutrients into my body to keep my body from going too crazy from the bad food I’d put in it. I can see myself taking this every once in a while. It’s not too bad to drink. I drank mine in just a little hot water to dissolve it. I put it in about 3 tablespoons of hot water and drank it straight up.

There are recipes you can use to hide the booster powder for your children. I would recommend you give it a shot if you want a way to help your child get more nutrition in their diet. My little boy LOVES smoothies that we make at home. I mix strawberries, raspberries, banana, peaches, and orange juice and he will drink a full cup and ask for more. It’s kind of like a special treat to him. I try to do that once or twice a week because I can be sure that on those days he’ll get his servings of fruit. This would be a great way to get the MegaFood Kids Nutrient Booster Powders into your child’s diet.

I think my little guy prefers to just drink the booster mixes straight up, like me. I let him have a little honey on his tongue after taking them and tell him to think of them as medicine that his body needs to function at its best. That’s what works for us. He will not take them mixed in with something else that he likes. For him he prefers to just drink it and be done. I tend to agree.

Have you ever made a mess of a recipe? C’mon, man (or woman)! You probably have at least once. What about two recipes? No? Just me? Well that’s okay. I was able to salvage two recipes into one surprisingly delicious recipe that works like it was always supposed to be this way and it’s pretty alkaline thanks to the almond butter, almonds, and whole wheat flour. I’m calling it my, “Oops I did it again!” cookie pie because it is a result of two recipes going awry.

Before I can even tell you how to do it, let me link to both of the recipes that I botched to get my one, delicious recipe. The first recipe was found here, and it is for candied pecan almond butter cookies. If you don’t like candied pecans, I’m not sure you are someone I can have a close friendship with. When I saw this recipe I knew I had to make it. This was the second recipe that I botched.

The first recipe that I botched was a simple caramel recipe. Now I’ve made caramels before with my husband’s help. It’s great to do it as a two person thing when you aren’t too familiar with making it. For some reason I thought I could handle it on my own so I just did it by myself. Well, while you’re stirring the caramel, it’s a good idea to have the recipe beside you so you know the temperature to cook them to. I thought you were supposed to cook them to soft ball phase but you actually are supposed to make them to hard ball phase. Oops! So I called them soft ball caramels and they were really, really delicious. They are caramel, just really soft. Here’s where I got the original recipe.

These types of caramels are good for spreading on top of something (chocolate, bread, vegetables, whatever). I put some of the caramel on top of a layer of chocolate and then put home roasted, freshly picked peanuts on top of that with a sprinkle of salt and then coated it all with chocolate. They were the best candy I’ve ever eaten. Seriously. But that’s a recipe for another day.

Today, I am giving you a recipe that is botched to perfection. Trust me on this one.

“Oops I did it again” cookie pie


  • 5-6 soft ball caramels (using this recipe taken to just the soft ball phase) OR 8 0r 9 store bought caramels
  • Candied almonds

    • 1/3 cup of raw cane sugar
    • 1 cup almonds


    • 1 cup salted butter, browned
    • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
    • 2/4 cup whole wheat flour
    • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 cup almond butter
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon buttermilk
    • 1/2 bag of miniature semi sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 1 tbsp butter (set aside- not to be mixed into the cookie pie)


    Prep time: 5
    Bake time:15 min
    Serves: 8-10


    1. Melt the cane sugar on medium heat until it starts to bubble. Add your almonds and mix well. Then, pour them out onto a plate to cool.
    2. Mix your dry ingredients: both flours, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
    3. Heat your butter on medium to medium high until it melts. Keep stirring and heating it until the butter starts to brown. The solids in the butter are what brown but watch it closely so it doesn’t burn. Once it is nicely browned, pour it into a container to cool slightly.
    4. Combine slightly cooled butter and both granulated and brown sugar. Mix until they are fully incorporated.
    5. Add the almond butter to the sugars and butter mixture.
    6. Add the egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
    7. Add the dry ingredients a little at a time until they are all mixed in. Don’t over mix! Just mix until they come together.
    8. Chop your almonds into smaller pieces, and add them and chocolate to the bowl. Again, just mix until all is incorporated.
    9.  Place mixture in wax paper and form into a loaf. Pour the tablespoon of oil over the top and rub it in. Then, fold the wax paper closed and put the whole thing into the refrigerator for 3 – 4 hours.
    10. Grease an 8 or 9 inch cake pan. Press the dough into the pan as evenly as possible. The dough will be kind of crumbly, but that’s okay.
    11. Spread 1 tbsp of butter over the top of your pie. Then, take the caramels and stretch them out or chunk them up into bits and place on top of the pie. They will melt in the oven so it’s not necessary to cover every inch of the pie.
    12. Place in an oven preheated to 375 degrees and bake for 15 minutes until caramel is melted. Let cool before slicing. Enjoy!

    Okay, so I had the chance to try a great new product that is for Kids 3 and older to help them learn social skills. You can get it on Amazon and it’s called Q’s Race to the Top Educational Board Game with Book: social skills, manners, and better behavior! So on the box to the game, it says that it’s for kids 3+. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I thought I’d give it a try with my kids at school who are 9-10 years old.

    The product includes a game board with directions, cards, four game pieces, and a die. The directions are easy to follow and understand. It took my students two minutes to read before they were playing and having fun. One of my students, when he saw the front of the box where it says 3+ for the age, “It’s not going to have two year old drool on it is it?” I told him that they were the first to play the game and I wanted them to let me know if it was any fun or not.

    Well, fun it is! They had a blast laughing and playing together. My favorite thing was the questions that asked them to think about their experiences and how they would handle potentially stressful situations for a child. One card I remember heard them reading was something like, “How do you handle a situation when you need to talk to an adult and they are talking to someone else?” I heard them talking about it being silly but my game leader talked about the right way to handle the situation.

    This game is a great way to help kids really think about their behavior and actions. Traditional ways of teaching behavior are not usually something that kids want to do. However, in THIS format, a game, kids are learning without even realizing it. All kids love board games!

    This is a product that teachers should DEFINITELY have in their classroom. We all have kids who struggle with appropriate social skills. This product will help! I plan on using this regularly in my classroom for my students who need that help with behaving appropriately.

    Parents, you will benefit from getting this game for your kids as well. It’s a great chance to play with them and talk with them about behavioral expectations to reinforce what you teach them. It’s a fun learning opportunity for kids to really get what they need to know about appropriate behaviors.
